This wedding website was designed and developed as a digital invitation and information hub for a couple's special day. The site serves as a central location for guests to learn about the wedding details, view photos of the couple, access venue information, and RSVP to the event.
The design emphasizes elegance and readability, with a color scheme that complements the wedding's aesthetic. The website is fully responsive, ensuring a seamless experience across all devices, from desktop computers to mobile phones, making it accessible for guests of all ages.

Development Process
Design & Planning
The project began with a consultation with the couple to understand their vision, preferences, and the information they wanted to share with their guests. I created wireframes and mockups that captured the elegant aesthetic they desired while ensuring the site would be intuitive and easy to navigate.
The design incorporated the wedding's color palette and typography choices, creating a cohesive visual identity that matched their physical invitations and overall wedding theme. Special attention was paid to the user experience, ensuring that guests of all technical abilities could easily find the information they needed.
Implementation
I built the website using Next.js for its performance benefits and SEO capabilities, which was important for ensuring guests could easily find the site. Tailwind CSS provided a utility-first approach to styling, allowing for rapid development of a responsive design that looks great on all devices.
Firebase was integrated for the RSVP functionality, providing a secure and reliable backend for storing guest responses. The Google Maps API was used to create an interactive map showing the venue location, complete with directions and nearby accommodations. Custom animations and transitions were added to enhance the user experience and create a polished, professional feel.
A key feature of this project was the integration with Google Sheets, which allowed the couple to easily manage their guest list and track RSVPs. This collaborative approach empowered the couple to maintain control over their guest information while benefiting from the website's automated features.

Challenges & Solutions
RSVP Management
Challenge: Creating an RSVP system that could handle multiple guests per invitation, meal choices, and special accommodations while remaining user-friendly.
Solution: Implemented a dynamic form system using React state management that adapts based on the number of guests and their selections. Firebase Firestore was used to store responses in real-time, with a custom admin dashboard for the couple to easily track and manage RSVPs.
Guest List Management & Authentication
Challenge: Creating a system that allowed the couple to easily manage their guest list, control access to the RSVP system, and collect responses in a format they could easily analyze.
Solution: Integrated Google Sheets API to create a two-way system where the couple could maintain their guest list in a familiar spreadsheet format. The website authenticates guests against this list, pre-populates RSVP forms with relevant information (events they're invited to, number of guests, etc.), and then stores responses in a separate sheet for easy analysis.
Performance Optimization
Challenge: Ensuring fast load times despite the inclusion of high-quality images and interactive elements, particularly for guests using mobile devices with varying connection speeds.
Solution: Utilized Next.js image optimization to automatically serve appropriately sized images based on the device. Implemented lazy loading for off-screen content and code splitting to reduce the initial bundle size. The result was a Lighthouse performance score above 90 on both mobile and desktop.

Google Sheets Integration
A standout feature of this wedding website is its sophisticated integration with Google Sheets, creating a seamless experience for both the couple and their guests:
Guest List Management
The couple maintains a primary Google Sheet containing their guest list, including names, email addresses, and which events each guest is invited to. This familiar spreadsheet interface allows them to easily update information without needing technical knowledge.
Authentication System
When guests attempt to access the RSVP section, the website verifies their email against the guest list spreadsheet. This ensures that only invited guests can submit RSVPs, maintaining privacy and security for the event.
Smart Form Pre-population
Once authenticated, the RSVP form automatically pre-populates with information from the guest list spreadsheet, including the guest's name, number of people in their party, and which events they're invited to. This significantly reduces the time needed to complete the form and minimizes errors.
Response Tracking & Analysis
When guests submit their RSVPs, their responses are automatically recorded in a separate Google Sheet. This gives the couple real-time access to attendance data, meal choices, and special requests, allowing them to make informed decisions about venue arrangements, catering, and other event details.
